Great...I was going to order some hair canvas this morning, and I check Xmarks and see this splendid news.
But...this is what's so great about our community. I'll try ordering some from Banasch's today and see what happens.

Just caught the news! Eeek. I used to use it in the highland dance vests, but someone recommended a heavy cotton canvas instead and I find it much better than hair canvas. But it's great stuff to have on hand (and there is a kilt I'm planning to make) so I'm off to the local store to stock up with a couple of metres.
Thanks for the head's up!

My local fabric store has three bolts of Tailors Pride. Should I go buy it all?

EEK! The Wizard is trying to corner the market!
All right, I'm out of here...

Lucky you! That's what I'd do.

Ok - here's an update on hair canvas.
Sydnie sent me a piece of her Acro (HTCW style #87007, which is 33% viscose, 20% wool, 17% polyester, 13% hair, 17% cotton), and it isn't as heavy as the Tailor's Pride that I have. If Tailor's Pride winds up being discontinued, it would be possible to double the Acro, but I wouldn't be happy about it.
I have two different versions of Tailor's Pride that I've gotten over the past couple of years:
-My favorite is HTC style #87003. It has 41% acrylic, 19% hair, 16% polyester, 15% viscose, and 9% cotton. I got this bolt several years ago, and it's _not_ the Tailor's Pride that I've received recently when I've ordered bolts of Tailor's Pride.
-The Tailor's Pride the I bought last year from Vogue Fabrics is also very nice. It's HTCW style #87009 and has 40% cotton, 33% hair, and 27% rayon.
-The Tailor's Pride bolt that I just got yesterday from Banasch's is exactly the same style # (87009) and fiber content as the one I got from Vogue Fabrics last year, but it is _not_ quite as heavy as the older Tailor's Pride (kind of midway between Acro and the old Tailor's Pride). Probably made by a different mill. It's still heavier, though than the Acro.
So, it's a bit of a mess. I think that, if you can find any Tailor's Pride left in a store, you should buy it. Who knows what will be available in the future.
I'll keep sleuthing!

I'm curious which Tailor's Pride this is. Did you buy some? What stock # is it?

I wonder what the kilt makers in Scotland are using. I'm guessing they have a different source of hair canvas for kilts.
[Just worrying about it because I am getting closer to being able to have a kilt made. From what I've read, a box pleat kilt only has the canvas in the aprons, though...
Thanks for the update, Barb.

I actually put canvas in the pleats in a box pleated kilt. I like the added stiffness and stability.
