Maybe a stop at Joann's is in order to see what fabrics they have.
Why not wear a straw hat and be much cooler in that heat?

I wouldnt wear a tartan tam, but i've seen many black tams with a thin tartan headbands, infact I own one too, and they look great if you want something just a little bit flashier, but still subtle

I personally would not wear a "tartan" Tam.

IMHO, pick one that matches the "primary" colors of you kilt.

I own 7 tams. ( various styles) Grey, Khaki, Dk Green, & Black,
I wear them to go with the "primary color of the kilt.
    . Example =
    1. Blk or Green with 5 of my kilts that have the BW as the base)
    2. the grey with my Greys
    3. Khaki with "earth tones ( also with #1 if wearing Tan or khaki ****)

I am saving for a "Jacobite Blue" ( 2 kilts.)

I bought a straw hat the other day. They are good for the hot weather.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
