Striped ties (called "Rep stripes" unless they represent a specific organization) are widely available in the USA and Canada. School ties are also widely available in the USA and Canada, as are some "military ties" and "club" ties.
But, to prevent anyone on XMTS feeling that they are somehow "left out" or "disenfranchised" when it comes to neck wear, might I suggest an XMTS tie? It should be based on equal width stripes of the lightest and darkest colours of the XMTS tartan, these stripes separated by a narrow (1/3rd the width of the wide stripe) yellow stripe (representing the XMTS plant badge).
So there you have it-- the X MARKS THE SCOT Club Tie!
Ben Silver actually has fairly decent bulk rates when it comes to club ties; my MOLLUS tie cost around $45, and it is worth every penny.
Mind you, I'm not volunteering to coordinate such a project, but I'd certainly buy a tie.

Okay, since when is a striped tie "not a part of our general culture"? I'm really quite puzzled by this, Galician. Businessmen, academics, politicians, lawyers etc, etc --those who wear a coat and tie to work--have been wearing striped ties in the US for generations now. Have you ever heard of Brooks Brothers? J. Press? Joseph A.Bank?
I'm serious here and am not trying to be a sarcastic prig! Look around, my friend, at men wearing suits. Many, many, many wear striped ties!
Just so you think that these striped ties are not the sole privilege of the British, take a look at these pages from various American catalogues:

Most striped neck ties in the US have the stripes going from right to the left ( like this: \ In the UK, most regimental ties go from the left to the right ( / ). While many ties resemble regimental ties, they are not the same, due to the stripes.

I usually wear my Regimental Tie if I'm going dressed for somewhere special and Jock's right, it doesn't matter what I wear, it goes with everything (except maybe my Levi Jacket)
Re: XMTS tie. Great idea MoR http://www.clubties.com/tie_design.asp
Select the 2nd from bottom option (with broad stripe AND narrow stripe) and then change stripe 1 from white to Gold.
Something like that?
Go on, You know you want one...
Here's another site picked from many on the wonderweb to give you an idea of what people are charging for bulk orders of custom ties in Silk and Polyester . http://www.creativeclubties.co.uk/jacq.cfm

Oh my! What have I started????
I have looked through the connections above in Sandy's post and I reckon that I could quite happily wear many of the choices there. Some look very like regimental ties that I recognise!Ho hum! Please, oh please don't go for horizontal stripes!
There is a recruiting drive for the new "arm" of the kilt police? The new and top secret Tie Police! To be based, I am reliably informed, "somewhere in Inverness-shire".

That would be my choice for an XMTS club tie. Perhaps one of our vendors would be willing to place an order?

I live in Nashville, Home of Vanderbilt University, I do know that the university has a tie (Both Bow and Windsor) with each school of Vanderbilt, Medical, Law, Religious, etc. Having a different version of the school tie, example the medical school has a caduceus woven in one of the stripes. Most of the fraternities at the university also have ties. The other universities in Nashville seem also to have ties.
It’s just that no one seems to wear ties much anymore.

You'd be surprised; they're worn more often than you think.
