St. Andrews Tartan USAK Casual Pics

Arrived today. Thanks Rocky and Kelly and "mac"!
Please forgive the cluttered background and lack of “outfit” – quick pics.
The hose are Cabala's Wader Socks. Very warm (we had a little snow today) and machine washable.
USA: If you desire a tartan that evokes the colors of faded denim, this tartan is for you.
Camera Colors: The background color is much more of a blue-gray to my eyes than that shown on my screen.

    Pleats:

    Rear:

    Fringe (stiff -- need combing/smoothing):
    Note also "pinholes".

Congrats on the new kilt from USAK -- it ooks grand!
I just got my first casual kilt from Rocky two weeks ago and mine does NOT have the fringe. Was that something you asked for specially or was it standard with that tartan?

It must come with the tartan fabric. Rocky?
I did not request it. I do like it though.

Note also that there is no "phantom" fifth color.

Thanks for the post - I'd missed this tartan. As I understand it (that's a warning folks) some tartan fabric has fringe and some doesn't. I don't care, not noticeable to myself or others, just is. But you can ask up front if the tartan is gonna have a fringe.

The PV material from MM is woven on 2 different machines... 1 that gives a fringed selvedge and 1 that gives a nice 'tuck selvedge' (same as on their wool material). When we order a CUSTOM weave of a specific tartan (in 130 - 200 M pieces), we can SPECIFY which selvedge we'd prefer... the Tuck Selvedge.

When we order 'Stock' tartans (like this St. Andrews, etc), we do NOT get to chose the selvedge... they just send us the fabric they have on hand. Occasionally, we get PV fabric with a nice Tuck Selvedge (about 10 to 20% of the time), but most times it is a fringed selvedge on stock tartans.

    Please note a few things:

    1. The fringe will NOT 'Unravel' or anything. It will remain the way it is for the life of the kilt.

    2. If you call us and inquire which tartans are FRINGED and which are Tuck Selvedge and the one you want is fringed, we can put on a blind hem when you order it (BEFORE we start the kilt) for a nominal charge.

the pin holes are not serious, this question is often asked, it's part of the weaving process and or finishing process, the fabric is slightly stretched using a special bar and frame, called a tenter, which has tenter hooks. They leave tiny holes whihc generally will either disappear or certainly diminish in time. They often seem a little more obvious on pv fabrics,
