    RIP Alexaner McQueen

    February 11, 2010
Alexander McQueen, Designer, Is Found Dead

    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
LONDON (AP) -- British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead at his London home on Thursday, his spokeswoman said. He was 40 years old.

Company spokeswoman Samantha Garrett said McQueen's body was found in the morning but that she had no information "in terms of circumstances."

Police did not directly comment when asked about how McQueen died, but said officers were called by the ambulance service at 10:20 a.m. (1020GMT) to an address on Green Street, in central London, and found a 40-year-old man dead. They did not name him but said next of kin had been informed.

The force said a post-mortem would be held but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

McQueen's death came days before London Fashion Week, although he was not scheduled to show in the British capital.

Fashion guru Isabella Blow, who helped launch McQueen's career, committed suicide almost three years ago.

What a tragedy. He was so very young-- this breaks my heart. What a tremendous loss for the fashion industry as well.

Whereas I am naturally sorry about his demise, having seen some of his creations shown on UK TV news I do not think he was a designer of wearable clothes.

That is sad news. Of course he wasn't a designer of everyday clothes, hardly any mainstream fashion designer is, but it very widely accepted that he was a true designer of couture clothing, of the highest order.
He will be missed in the world of fashion.

Didn't his mother die only a few weeks ago?

sad indeed. Can anyone explicate either his outfit or SJ Parker's above? Is hers a large shawl,or part of the dress? Is his a plaid or a sash?

I think he had great talent - but not for fashion. Perhaps if he'd been able to really use his tailoring skills - which he had in abundance, rather than waste them on the crazy world of fashion design.....

    His death is sad news.

Still, if I may... as a modern stylist, he could have indulged in any field of fashion and art design.

Thankfully, he was crazy enough to be interested in tartan and focused the world's spotlight on it... tartans ! Kilts ! Let us be thankful, or as we say in France: "Hey! Don't spit in yer own soup !"
