Being that I subscribe to no religion, believe in no supreme being, this makes me MacEvil in the eyes of some. This tartan is stunning and will be in my collection if it becomes available!

I, too, get the Scottish Register e-mails, and I thought Rocky's design was quite elegant. I am not thrilled when otherwise nice people like to self-identify as evil, but to each his own. I see no problem as long as no one is trying to misrepresent and they are not trying to get the Lord Lyon to officially recognize this group as a "clan." As near as I have seen with most corporate or fashion tartans the naming requirements are a bit looser than with actual clan, family or personal tartans.

It's a smart tartan, Rocky. I have been playing around with the Scotweb tartan designer (I use the same name there as here if anyone would like to check out my work) and would be pleased to have done this myself! Keep on designing, Rocky, I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thank you Brian, well put. This thread, 5 pages later, has like many threads before it, come full circle. My original intention for creating this thread was merely intended as a shout-out to Rocky for what I thought was a nice tartan design. I merely wanted to share with folks who may not be on the Scottish Tartan Authority's mailing list that an active XMTS contributor and supporter has been active and busy in a creative endeavor that should be lauded. I did not mean for this to descend into a debate about the legitimacy of MacEvil or anything of that sort.

Not that the discussion ever got acerbic or anything, but I've been glancing at this thread from time to time since I started it, and despite the whole "clan" discussion and other good-natured, but off-topic comments, decided against saying anything and just let it run its course.

But perhaps now, the thread having accomplished what it set out, that is to simply recognize Rocky for his work, I'd ask the mods to consider bringing it to an elegant close before it all starts back up again.
