    Black Watch and black hose

Your green hose will be perfect.
I think black hose go very well with Black Watch if one livens it up a bit with bright flashes or hose tops.

The Lovat Green hose with the Black Watch kilt is a classic combination, in fact it's what is worn in the military in less formal orders of dress:

Originally the military always combined the Black Watch tartan (originally called the "government tartan") with red & white diced hose:

Much later, in the 19th century, the Black Watch switched to red & black diced hose, but the Argylls continued on with their original Government tartan kilts and red & white hose.

For a number of years I wore a quite sombre outfit consisting of Black Watch kilt, dark green Argyll jacket, and dark green hose with red flashes. The extremely dark green used for the Scottish military dress doublets is called by the military "Archer Green". Americans usually call this colour "forest green". Kilt hose in this colour are usually called "bottle green". Cars in this colour are called "British Racing Green".

But many hose colours would work well with a Black Watch kilt. Why not red hose? Anything but white or cream, for my taste.

No worries, Jock. I hope I can be forgiven for thinking someone residing where you do, and who seems to have deep roots there, would speak with a Scots accent rather than an English one. In any event, I think most of my compatriots wouldn't know the difference, nor would they care *sigh*.

    Regards,

    Brian

I could PM my number if you can't find it, Jock.

Perhaps, Brian and Jock could have a talk on the phone.

I suggest some sort of green hose with the Black Watch tartan.
