Look at how the UK is made. It IS intended to be worn at the hips, unlike a traditional kilt

That is why I wear the UK's and home made kilts. That and the lack of a tartan I can call my own. Any suggestions on a tartan for a heritage that is tied to England and America?

I'm not completely certain, but when I eventually go for a tank, I'm probably going to get this tartan.. http://www.scottish-tartans-world-re...spx?record=651

Having just returned from my first American Highland Games (Ligonier) beyond a small local Celtic Festival or two, I am ready to comment.
I didn't see anyone dressed in a way that bothered me. The only person who stood out was the Lord Lyon. The pipers tended to be quite formal, and the Clans tended to be informal American, if kilted at all. Worked for me.
That said, I found the games a bit impersonal. The time is so full in a one-day games, that chances to get together and bond are few. We should change that, for the livelihood of the games may depend on it.

No, you're on topic. Sadly this became the thread to hate on "those Renaissance Festival people" a while back!
But I'm sure if the idea of folks trying to enjoy themselves keeps you up at night, you'll find quite a few friends on this forum!

I think the complaint was that the Renaissance Festival was coming to the posters, not the other way around.
And that does seem to be the case at many Scottish Festivals and Highland Games around here.
