I have a kilt form Celtic Croft, a phillabeg, made of thier homespun material. I like it. It is quite nice. I live 60 miles from the nearest dry cleaner [rural Colordo] and the material does quite well with hand washing with a mild wool type cleaner and drying between two large towels. My next kilt will very likely be one of their economy kilts in the very same fabric. I think your father will be very happy if you chose one of their kilts.

In the Homespun Tartan list there appears "Irish Green (non clan)", but this sett is not shown in the images for the homespun.

    What does it look like...?

I was wondering about the Brown Watch and emailed Celtic Croft asking about a swatch. I got an email back the next day saying one was on the way to me.

... I would assume that it's a solid colour, but then how does it differ from 'Solid Green Modern' that they also list?

They say it won't be tailor-made, but then there's the order form that asks for your waist, hip and length measurements.
Makes no sense to me either, especially as they say it may not fit well if your hip measurement is more than 4 inches more than your waist, but then they ask for both numbers?

I have a black kilt made of 'acryllic wool' which feels like a blend of wool and acryllic (?), which I had custom made in Pakistan. Of course I just sent them the three numbers. I didn't go there for a fitting. Fits perfectly, though. Cheap too, although the postage cost as much as the kilt. It was a one-off deal on eBay, so not repeatable unfortunately, and they only offered solid black or Royal Stewart. It's the full 8yds, as well. Pakistani tank?

    Update

I got my dad's measurements. 36 waist 39 hips. So I'm sure an off the rack kilt would fit him. I'm leaning toward the Stillwater because it's 100% wool and the weave is tighter so it's less likely to get snagged on something.

More questions though...I'm sure that during the spring and summer my dad is closer to a 34. How much adjustment do SWs have?

And I can't find the shipping cost without ordering first!?
