Burns Dinners are a celebration of the life and work of Robert Burns, Scotland's most famous bard. They are held near his birhtday, 25 Jan. The Grand Rapids Scottish Society(GRSS) puts one on every year. This year it is on the 29th. It is a formal affair, more than half the men are kilted. They have a dinner of course, including haggis. Poems and songs by Robert Burns are performed. They have the Grand Rapids pipe band there to play as well. There is Scottish Country Dancing which they invite the crowd to participate in and they show you how, too. If you wish to go, you have to contact the GRSS, tickets are $27.50 and must be purchased in advance.
