These all sound like pretty good ideas to me. I've even seen som ladies purses that were rigged to wear around the waist, somewhat like a sporran. I sure hear you, though, come to where to put your stuff... I've always thought that carrying a purse must be a drag.

If you really wanted to go full tilt, you could talk to Scott (Artificer) or Lamar Britt of Ferguson Britt Sporrans, or anothber sporran maker, and see if they could design something special for you... a "girl sporran", if you will. Could be pretty cool.

I'm glad I keep checking in and reading the posts on all of this stuff. I'm in much the same boat.
I have some very comfortable black oxfords that I wear with a sport coat and slacks, I own some very nice capped Bostonians that I wear with a suit or my tuxedo and I'm thinking I have a decent Hi-Tec casual suede hiking boot that I'll wear also.

I've been a little frustrated about some of these choices too. Glad to hear I'm not alone!

Well this is what this Scot wears around the place as "general" doitall type shoes, black brogues. I am not sure who made these they must be 20 years old, but I am a great fan of "Hoggs of Fife" who do make first class black brogues.

And when 4wd is required I tend to resort to these. Again from the "Hoggs" stable.

Those 4wd boots look expensive jock... but they also look like they'd last you a thousand years.

I chased down Hoggs' website on your say so. There are no prices I note but I really do like these:

    Mmmmmmm......

As an aside, what a crackin' picture. I love the matchin' trews.

EDIT: Jock, is that an East Lancs Tie?

I sure hear you, though, come to where to put your stuff... I've always thought that carrying a purse must be a drag.

It is a drag, especially if you want your hands free for picture taking or beer drinking (or kilt inspecting!) When I'm in my sport kilt I tend to just strap my little camara bag around my waist...it holds ID and cash as well as the camera...and the phone goes in the pockets of the sport kilt. I know, I know, I know SACRILAGE...but they sure are convenient! When I bought it, I wasn't sure how active i'd be in the local society, so I didn't want to spend a fortune...now I'm on the board and helping plan the games, so I think I'm in it for life and it's time to start upgrading!
I will take your advice and ask some of the sporran makers here to help me out...might be interesting to see what they come up with!

Sorry old friend. Hopefully you're not offended.

It's just it does appear close. And I do have an interest even if only by my current local. I am surrounded by Lancastrians of all orders.

I am not in the least bit offended EB. The Cirencester tie has a bit more red in it. I will try and find a better picture, failing that have a look at the "smart turnout" web page. I know the Light Dragoons and the Merchant Taylor's Old School tie are also similar too.

Here we go. I think you can see that the red is, well er, more red and perhaps the yellow is a tad brighter.

I was going from a previous clue that you spilled, in that, you served with an English Line Regiment so the Cavalry wasn't it. I forget where you posted that, it was a while ago.

I'm not prying Jock, I think you've sussed where I'm from. It's just a... if I was in the mess "what tie is that?" type question and honestly fired by genuine interest. My apologies.
