Any one use this kilt maker?
What brought me here to this board was my own well thought out, however hastily ordered kilt skirt. I was hoping to see if anyone else on the interwebs has ordered from this company or not, as I'm having a hard time finding any feedback on them.
I'd been wanting a mini skirt in an Irish tartan for a few years now, and this year I went ahead and ordered one from Kilts 'n' More since they are always at the local Ren Fest down here.
My choices in tartan came down to Murphy (family name on the Irish side), Fermanagh, or Westmeath (according to the kilt maker's Irish surname book, the other Irish name could go either way with the two county tartans). I went with Fermanagh, as I'm a fan of blue, though perhaps in the future I'll get a Tara one. :-)
So, my question is, has anyone around here used this vendor? Thoughts? Good, bad, indifferent?
Thanks much!

I've not used them, but I'm not encouraged by the way these kilts on their site hang. Perhaps you've seen better at their booth.

Jimmy the chicken!!!! Is that supposed to be a balmoral?!? The sporran is rather odd and I almost had a conniption when I compared the quality to the prices! Ever go to McDonalds? Notice how good those burgers look? They NEVER look like that when you get em. I hope your kilt comes out well.

I have to admit to an aversion to websites with multiple misspellings on their home page. I don't mind it on forums, where you are typing quickly and pretty much committed once you press enter, but on a website where you are trying to impress people?
Also, it looks like they have no left buckle, just one on the right. That would help account for how they appear to hang so lopsided.
edit to add: Well, looking at the pics the 2nd clearly has three buckles. But their webpage on how to don the kilt makes no mention of buckling the underapron. Odd.
I sure agree, Cowher: price vs. quality is out of whack.
Glad I found this forum before I found them.

I have learned from Sport Kilt not to judge quality from pictures, so I won't comment to the quality of the kilts. But those sporrans... I've never seen anything quite like them, which is great- I love originality- but they imply that those are in some way historical- which I find to be hysterical.

don't wanna hijack (sorry OP) -- but, what do you mean about Sport Kilt picture / quality disparity?
I'm intrigued because I'm considering getting a SK and the pictures looked fine to me. Are you saying they're NOT as good as the pics or are they even BETTER?
I want a "sport" kilt, not one for classy events. One for working a beer festival where I'll get beer spilled on me, set up tents, haul beer kegs, haul ice, basically "work" in the kilt in the heat of the summer -- bit, look good doing it.
To the OP: what exactly are you trying to buy? You mentioned "kilt skirt" - that appears to be an oxymoron. You also stated you want a mini skirt with a tartan design. Are you aware that a mini skirt is NOT a kilt? I'm not trying to be a smarty pants or sarcastic. I'm genuinely asking. Are you female and are actually looking for a skirt? Are you male and desiring a kilt? please elaborate so we can help.

I'd take a look at the USA Kilts mini's...just for comparison.

I haven’t bought anything from Kilts ‘n' More and can therefore say nothing about their quality.
However, the layout of the site could certainly need an upgrading. Already ten years ago it was outdated. Add to that several broken links, extremely bad photos and prices that are far from being in harmony with what should be expected, judging from the web design.
I shouldn’t dare order from a company presenting itself like this. Sorry.

This smells like a setup tom me, something just doesn't seem right....could be that someone is fishing for negative responses? I have never come across this site and upon looking at it I can certainly say that I would never order anything from it now that I have, no one could possibly think that this is a good site to order from, if it is however, my apologies for such deep seeded pessimism.....

I actually went and looked at the web site for kilts n more -- what a dump.
problems:
-- grossly overpriced
-- kilts looks crappy in their own pics
-- site looks circa 1997
-- many obvious spelling and grammatical errors, obviously ZERO attention to detail
Sorry, OP -- keep shopping. Try any of the links for the XMTS vendors.
PS: (cracked me up) did you notice on the botton of their home page: "last updated 02/07/21010" -- wow!!
