I agree. The tartan looks much nicer than the online swatch at USAK's website. I also like the way it looks pleated to the stripe.

carlb: Great looking kilt! Looks like USA Kilts worked some of its magic again. You look fit as a fiddle in it. I wish I looked as, let us say, "flat" in my kilts. :-)

As for your blue hose looking purple, nobody is less surprised than me. If you care to know why, just check out the following thread ...

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

A USA Semi-trad in that tartan has been on my list for some time - want to honor a Palatine German branch of the family....fought for England in the Revolution then settled in Quebec after the war. Married into a Loyalist branch of my family tree.

Thanks for the great pics of the finished kilt.

I like it, too, but all of that credit goes to Rocky. I didn't really have a strong feeling as to how I wanted it pleated, so I just asked him to pleat it in the way he likes. I figured it is "his" tartan, he'd know best. And he does.

Looks great. I think one is in my distant future as I have a strong Pennsylvania Dutch pull in my family.

My eldest son Tom, who is half German and was born in Niedersachsen, says if he were ever to kilt up it would be in one of these. I like how yours is pleated but I've also seen it pleated to sett and that looks grand too. It is a lovely tartan however it's worked... Nice one!

I was trying to decide on my next kilt. I want a "red" one. I think you may have helped me make up my mind. That is beautiful. And.... my mother was born and raised in Germany.

Wear it well in good health for many years!

Also, thanks for posting photos on the first post of the thread rather than being harrassed and cajoled into doing so.
