I don't have one of their homespun great kilts, but I do have one of the wee kilts. I honestly love the material. It has the hang and feel of a heavier cloth because it's a loose weave, but it's only 10oz material, which was a godsend this weekend, as the temperatures soared to 100F at the festival at which my living history group was giving presentations. Even in the lighter weight material, it was miserable. The pipers in their heavy wool kilts and waistcoats and other such regalia were in bad shape and spent a lot of time in our tents, and the clan tents. So how does it compare to the other great kilts? I don't know. I do know how it compares to the material, though. It's awesome for wear in the Colorado desert in the middle of July.

So as to the "ancient" kilts... they look like knockoffs the terrible costuming in Braveheart and bare no resemblance to any genuine ancient kilt that I have ever seen.

Oh yeah... and my big bum is 56 inches. The 6 yarder fits me great! AND the pleats are still rather deep- at least as deep as my hand is long.
