Scout Piper & Retired US Navy
I was turned onto this site by a fellow member. He saw my performance of Back to Gilwell on the pipes while at Scout O Rama. So far I enjoy those of you I have met through the "threads".
We have shared information on piping and Scouting.
I am heavily in Scouting as I believe "It is easier to build a boy, then to repair a man". The BSA program has greatly influence my life as a youth as well as an adult. I believe that America has lost touch with its youth and we will be paying for it.
I am also a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer: '79-'99. I was an Aviation Chief and spent many years working on helos. I am now very active in the American Legion and VFW.
I picked up the pipes as I wanted to provide a service to those military members that have heard the final Tattoo. My mother had a set of pipes on her wall (she is a music teach) for decoration. I reworked them. They were very tough to play. Now I have a very nice set of McCallum pipes.
I have played at Scouting activities (Flag Retirements) as well as Patriot Day, Memorial, and Veteran Day community ceremonies. Next event is 10th Anniversary of Patriot Day (9/11) in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Respectfully,
Scout Piper
