Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?

When will everybody let go of the angst and perceptions that the world wants to introduce and just view the kilt as any other piece of clothing. No offense to the OP, but would you ask on any other forum where somebody wears shorts? Pants? Oxford shirt, etc.? It is a garment, and one with a long and historic past, but so are pants, saris, robes, etc.. Wear it, wear it proud, and don't look to others for validation on your clothing choices..

While I totally agree with all that, I was looking at the question not so much as coming from "seeking validation" so much as something like "In Scotland the kilt seems to be largely a 'special occasion' kind of thing. What do YOU (generic 'you') feel are circumstances where the kilt 'fits'?"
