My Grandfather was a WW2 veteran having served in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps as part of the 5th Canadian Armoured Brigade overseas. But many years after that he would be tasked with a much more difficult job, that being a role model for a young lad who would one day follow in his foot steps. That lad of course being me. A little under a year ago I decided to honour my late Grandad by designing the Jack Hawes Memorial tartan.

The begining was a thought on the screen,

Then that fabric was measured and cut and layed out,

Pleated to the green stripe to represents the fields and forests that were so much a part of his and my life.
