Both of my sporrans were made by Sue Craigie of Craigie Originals (she has since closed her doors.) I acquired the black sporran, kilt belt, braided sporran belt, and braided hanger in 2005. All of the pieces are made from the same piece of elk leather. I prefer a hanger when wearing a kilt belt, and use the sporran belt mainly without the kilt belt.
I prefer the style of braided sporran belt and hangers Sue makes to the plain belts and hangers. Her kilt belts are a three piece affair. An outer layer of elk bonded to another piece of leather with the inner layer being a piece of Velcro. The Velcro keeps the belt from sliding on the kilt (the sporran belt also has the Velcro on the inside.)
Wanting a more casual sporran, I purchased the brown sporran along with kilt belt, sporran belt, and hanger last year. Like the first, it's made from one piece of elk. I bought one of Tyger's buckles for the belt from Matt at the museum.
Currently, I do not attend black tie affairs. If that changes, I will look for an appropriate sporran.
