For what it's worth, the Cameron of Erracht tartan seems to be a military rather than a clan tartan. It is also the tartan chosen for the only kilted regiment in US history, the 79th New York, formed during the War Between the States. Some of us who are not Camerons might choose to wear it in reference to that history.
