We're almost an island, show us your NW storm photos.
As some on the forum know, I packed up my family in 2005 and left the San Francisco Bay Area for the Southern Oregon Coast. A tough decision for someone who's family helped found California, but things change and it was time to move on. Through a circuitous route, we ended up living here on a peninsula on a small lake next to the ocean. Rush hour traffic now consists of three cars, an elk and a flock of turkeys crossing the road.
The high winds (sustained at 82mph, gusting to 110mph) and heavy rains have changed the landscape a bit. It's five miles to the main road, with a little over a mile and a half straight stretch through the pastures. If you are observant, you can get an idea of how severe a storm will be, by how the animals are acting. The day before the storm hit, I was traveling the road and it became apparent we were going to have a lot of rain,...the cattle were wearing flotation devices and practicing lifeboat drills.
The school bus was unable to pass through that road yesterday. The road was clear this morning and the children boarded the S.S. school bus for a two hour tour (sorry, I couldn't resist the Gilligan's Island reference.)
Having been in worse storms, we are prepared to ride it out. I hope the other Xmarkers in the Northwest are similarly prepared.
Show us your photos of the storm. To start it off, here's a photo of our lake's normal water level.

A photo of the same dock from this morning.
