Are girls "allowed" to wear a full on kilt?

I generally don mostly men's clothing normally. Work pants, carhartts, etc.
Several years ago, my self appointed work "uniform" was denum skort in the summer. It was still kinda hot in the neither regions, and not long enough, IMO, for a mature woman to be wearing. Wore them anyway, because it was HOT to wear dickies all summer. I look like a Midget gangsta in dickies work shorts.

Due to a fairly severe achilles injury, I began wearing a leg brace full time. Think half a Forest Gump brace, attached to a black work boot. *sexy*
Unless I am in long pants, it's not something I can hide, like at all. Also severely limits actually "dressing up" all girly, etc.

I recently bought a knock off utilikilt, just to see if I'd like it. I just couldn't see spending $300 just to see if I'd like it. I got "dickies blue" typical uniform pants color. I LOVE it, though there's some things I'd change about it, were I to have made it myself or paid top $$ to buy it.

I have an event to attend next weekend at a country club....motorcycle club 60th reunion. People will be dressed anywhere from clean jeans and their favorite race t shirt all the way to the 9s. aka, there is no real "dress code".
I decided that I wanted an Irish tartan kilt to wear, so I ordered one. Again, not a top $$ kilt, at all, though 16oz. and advertised as a full 8 year, traditional kilt (not a utilikilt variety)

So, basically....as a female.....am I "allowed"? Or is it considered in poor taste, etc? I'm not really a long, traditional tartan skirt kinda girl unless I was to be so dressed up as to be wearing heels. Right now, I can't wear heels at all, not even girly flats.
If I am "allowed", what accessories are acceptable or completly NOT acceptable for me to wear with it?

Throw me out some dos and don'ts.
