Taking the Plunge - Kinetikat in a Kilt!
Oh, help. Decided I'd better get used to wearing the tank before I actually stepped out on to the Highland Games field at the end of May!
So, when my buddy Robyn called to ask if I'd go for a drink last night, I said, "Yeah, OK, but I'm wearing my kilt! And you have to take photos for the X-Markers!"
It does feel kind of... illicit... being a lass and going out on the town wearing a man's kilt. But the swish definitely compensates.
On the downside, the dam' thing is definitely a bit too long - if I hoicked it up any higher, I'd be able to sew bra straps on the top I have no ambitions to become the Simon Cowell of the kilt world! Any kiltmakers here in the UK who could do a wee bit shortening for me without me having to take out a mortgage? Currently the drop is 24", and I need it more like 16" or 17"... and back here in working order before May 26th...
It's definitely polyviscose rather than wool. Not that this is a huge problem for a garment that's going to get all sorts of cacky on it over the course of the summer!
But anyway, enough babbling: even overlong and all, it still felt great! Apologies for the over-exposed pics. And apologies for the slightly odd hair - I had it rammed into a bun with a biro after a semi-failed experiment earlier in the evening with some fibre putty.
This shot was the one where Robyn yelled, "Try to look normal for goodness' sake!"
Well, I did my best.

Alas, after that the rot set in... this is my 'Warrior Woman' pose:

...aaand I THINK this one could possibly be labelled 'Attitude: Kilted.' LMAO.

We trollied out to a country pub we go to now and then, gleefully anticipating the reaction of the customers when we walked in - and the place was flippin' empty - I mean, OK, it was a Sunday night, but the only person in the place apart from us was the barman, and he missed our entrance, and hence didn't notice that I was wearing a kilt. Talk about a let-down. The only solution... doing this again. Oh yeah.
