Wood Badge Beading Ceremony
This evening, I received my Wood Badge beads (to signify completion of Boy Scout's premier training for adults). David, our course director and holding the kudu horn, officiated. My fellow Owls, Andy and Becky, drove an hour to honor me with their presence. I am humbled.
Oh, yeah. That's yours truly in the MacLaren modern.
William F. de Bois MacLaren, a Scout commissioner from Rosneath, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, near Glasgow, purchased a derelict estate near Epping Forest near the town of Chingford (about an hour from London) and presented Gilwell Park to the Scout Association in July 1919. To recognize Mr. MacLaren's generous gift, the Gilwell Park staff wore neckerchiefs made from the MacLaren tartan. The Clan MacLaren Society of North America has established a special associate (non-voting) membership for any Scouter who has earned his or her Wood Badge.
