I go with the temperature. Kilt hose in hot weather are torture - maybe even medically dangerous. Mild weather wear scrunched down kilt hose. Have never worn regular sox with a kilt. Just looks weird. I've been into barefoot and sandals with kilts for a few weeks now...no other way...just have to. Folks understand. Bifurcated guys are wearing shorts and sandals...just is in HOT weather country.
I've heard of sandal tans and I've heard of farmer's tans....wonder if there's a kiltie tan where the calfs are tanned and above the knees its lily white - for us Bilagaana/Bahana/Haoule/Gringo types
