Some time ago I wrote that I was looking for a light-coloured kilt to wear in the sun, and someone pointed me to e-bay, where there was indeed a dress Stuart kilt for sale. Not my size, however.

Since then I have been visiting e-bay from time to time, and finally bid for an all-wool dress Gordon.
It arrived today, the maker's label carefully removed, sold by a producer of household cleaning products. It was advertised as 24" long, but is only 22", which suits me fine. The weave and the wool are not the best I have known, but at GBP55, for a new kilt, sporran & broad belt included, I won't complain. I'd rather go walking in this one than in my better kilts, keep my light-coloured cotton for picnics.
It has a hidden pocket at the top right corner of the apron, which could be useful, and the bottom is hemmed like a breacan. Nice straight pleats, though shallow.

Where these products come from remains a mystery.
China, perhaps?
