I have absolutely no idea what a semi-trad kilt is, but if you think it will look alright, then go for it.
But ; I am surprised that your kiltmaker is out of silver buckles, though, they're not hard to source. You need to ask yourself, will brass buckles go with any sporran/sporran chain/kilt pin/belt.sgain dubh made from a silver metal that I might wear?
