22:00 in Tescos in Bury St Edmunds. I had just come from Scottish Country Dancing and was kilted. I stopped in to see if there were any mark-down bargains before going home.
As I head towards the tills a gentleman spys my kilt (no eye contact),
As I pass him he mutters "Republican",
I stop and face him and say "No. Monarchist."
Only then does he make eye contact and says "That's OK then."
It obviously was in reference to the up coming Scottish Referendum, but and this is important, it would not have happened if I had not been wearing a kilt.
There will be highland games in England in 2013 and in referendum year of 2014. One can only wonder what effect there will be on them as time gets closer.
