My experiences with the current generation (people <40) have mostly been positive, and mostly inquisitive rather than offensive. Most of the rude comments and offensive/insulting statements I've had have all been from more "mature" folks, insulting me with all sort of statements including "style" comments. Usually insisting that it's a skirt, not a kilt, that I'm not a man for wearing such things, etc... even down to footwear.
It is disappointing to see people so uncultured. But on the other hand, it's encouraging to see that the younger generations are much more open to cultural differences and accepting of different cultural attires, with a curious mind to learn.
