Given the fact that the Bowmore hose are sold as both "kilt hose" and "shooting stockings," I think ol' Jock might have a good point here. Personally I prefer the larger turn-downs so I don't have to mess with folding my flashes over etc. But I will admit the bowmore style throws me for a loop every time I try and wear them (which isn't very often unfortunately, given their thick, extra-cushion sock bed and my sub-tropical latitude), to wit:



Left leg there is with one fold... ***? A little generous, eh wot? And the right leg takes a funky 3(?) folds to get to a regular kilt hose look. The foot bed of these hose are really for boots, ie their extra thick, but they definitely look good with the brogues, too.

In truth though, so what if the fold is a wee tad too large, the world is hardly going to stop spinning, now is it? The benefit of a large(long) turnover is that the flashes usually only stick out a wee tad which is better, by far, than the "wind-sock" effect.
