Looking for two Sgian Dubhs
I am looking for a formal sgian dubh and a functional one as well. I saw a page for Tennessee Sgian Dubhs but it seems to have gone the way of the Dodo. I liked what I saw there. One I liked for a functional blade was molded from a tree branch and made from resin. I like the "natural look" and honestly am not much of a fan of the refined look. A blade protruding from a tree branch or a piece of horn that looks like it was just removed from the donor is really my style. Of course it needs to be functional and look good, but style over substance is my preference.
That said, a formal sgian dubh is still in order for Formal occassions like my upcoming wedding, or other event. I think I would like a more simplified and elegant blade instead of using jewels, crests, and tapering the handle. I read the phrase "understated elegance" and that would work perfectly for me.
Any suggestions you would have for where to look and who to speak with would be greatly appreciated!
