Soon to be kilted in New England
After a cycling trip to Scotland, I fell in love with the culture, the people, the cooking (?)...and the kilt.
I've held off on purchasing one because...well, I'm a professional in a small New England town, have teenage daughters, and felt that wearing a kilt may be pushing the envelope a bit too far. You know how small New England towns can be.
But I hit one of those transitional ages (more gray than black in my beard these days), and said the heck with it. Purchased a contemporary kilt from Trinity Kilts, which should be arriving in a couple of weeks.
Now my children are threatening to ask the courts for emancipation, my wife thinks I'm a whacknut, and I'm looking forward to the kilt arriving.
Any suggestions for a newbie? I mean, besides the obvious one of having this discussion with a dram or two.
Also, I've been delving into my genealogy a bit, and it appears I may have some Scottish heritage. But you gotta go way back in time to get there.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm glad I found this forum, I think.
