Halò and tha mi toilichte do choinneachadh!

I am Niall Fitzgerald, a half Irish half Scots Glaswegian from Leinster (confused? how d'you think I feel?).

I wear a kilt as often as it I can get away without becoming known as an eccentric. Nothing wrong with eccentricity, I'm just not as good at it as most of the people in my life.

Briefly, I am a mature student working my way through University in my home town of Glasgow and in my spare time I like to get about to rugby matches, football interspersed with visits to the pub.

I have been enjoying wearing the kilt since my teens some 20 years ago and I now have three of my own. My first was an ex-hire Angus now too small, the second was an impulse buy at Lidl a cheap supermarket import (although 100% wool) which is not only too long but went to a drycleaner with no experience in highlandwear who lost the pleats and so it now billows like the sails on Americas Cup racing yachts. My third Kilt I am rather proud of. A made to measure, hand-sewn, 11 and a 1/2 yard Modern Hunting MacGregor pleated Military Style to the white stripe. It is the finest garment I have ever worn.

Ok, so that's enough for now, as I said, pleased to meet you all and as we say in Partick: Tha mo bhàta-foluaimein loma-làn easgannan!

Niall
