Well it was great to meet Rocky and see the huge expanse of tartan he has (as well as multiple other items that would keep any kilt wearer happy). It was also a great day to ride to his place.
Sadly Rocky didn't have a PV tartan off the peg that I wanted (at least, not in my size) though he did show me the Murray Ancient he has in the back room so you can be certain I will be having one of those made. Luckily, he had a 13oz wool in Scottish National that fit me and required no alteration. I couldn't tell you if it is a 5 yard or an 8 yard though it seems weighty indeed. Perhaps Rocky can chime in?
I also picked up a simple black day sporran and some hose. I have a busy day ahead of me so may not get a chance to get pictures today but if I can I will wear the kilt to my sons rugby practice and grab a picture afterwards.
Shopping at USA Kilts store was an experience I would recommend to anyone who is within driving/riding distance; just expect to leave happy and with a lighter wallet
