Hi Guys
I'm a new member, my name is Richard Anderson and I'm from Southampton, Hampshire UK, I have been wearing kilts for three years now and love them, the main reason firstly having a Scottish ancestors, we have our one tartan and crest, so why shouldn't I wear what my forefathers wore, and secondly all my life and have worn ordinary clothes nothing special even in the 60s and 70s, there was I in a plain suit or jacket and trousers, I did not even have any jeans to wear if fact the first pair of jeans I had was when I was 19 years old and they were strictly for work.
As time went by I was going to a wedding and was asked if all the men would wear Kilts, no way, there is no way I'm going to wear a skirt sorry and besides I thought my legs were to thin and long for the kilt, so I turned up in a plain old suit and I was totally the odd one out all day end of story ........or so I thought
It was about a year later I came across a Scottish web page and they had the Anderson crest shield a rugby shirt with also with the Anderson crest, I all ready had the shield which hangs over my bed, but nothing else, I suppose I was Scottish by name only and have only been to Scotland three times, so I don't even know the place, but I carried on looking at the web page and of course I came across the Kilts................how much did that one cost £300 pounds no way £500 for an outfit, no it was not for me.
After two months of looking at Kilts I thought it would be nice if I did have one, like just for best dinner parties ect, so I went the whole hog and brought the lot a day outfit came first followed by the potain waistcoat and Jacobite shirt, a casual Kilt in a lightweight cloth for the summer and black Argyll jacket with waistcoat, this was followed by a camouflage kilt which I made myself, so you can see I'm hooked for life, it is so difference from the old me, just blended in the background, now I stand out like a sore thumb and I feel great and as it has been mentioned so many time I love the attention I get from complete stranger and I try to wear my kilts twice a week at least, I'm so glad I made to move to the Kilts
Richard
