Now about Charles' hose, his red & white diced hose would be sitting in his closet so to speak, being part of his uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of The Gordon Highlanders.
About those tartan hose, they appear to have been knit to match a kilt in "ancient" colours and I wonder if they were, and if so, if there's a photo somewhere of Charles wearing those hose with the matching kilt.
Maybe this one??

Jock I know what you mean about colour combinations which don't work: I have an Isle of Skye kilt and matching hose, and a Drummond of Perth kilt and matching hose, and I tried switching the hose to see what it looked like... not good!
