I am back from the cruise and I did wear my kilt. I have two observations. First, when picking up tickets for an evening show on Saturday night at the Sydney Opera House I was told that, because of the great number of tourists, they no longer have a dress code except for very special occasions. I was told that what I was wearing when I picked up the tickets was fine--levis and a golf shirt! So I did not wear my kilt to the the play. I think because I have more respect for my kilt than that. Second, on board the cruise ship, I wore my black argyle jacket with a formal shirt and bow tie. I did not wear the waistcoat because off Tonga and Bora Bora and Tahiti it was almost too hot for the jacket even with the "air conditioning." I made a dummy sgian dubh in my shop to use on the cruise and it was a good thing that I did. They almost took a small pair of scissors from my wife when getting on board--she talked them out of it. Then I was asked twice while on board if my sgian dubh was a "knife." Then we went to dinner where you could get several sharp metal knives from the dinning table…so? Anyway, my next event is the local Robbie Burns dinner and I will wear a PC to that.
