BCAC - I thought that I had explained the dangers of cross posting sufficiently when comments about items for sale end up in a discussion on something else. It's easily done and therefore when it started I saw the need to step in with a simple and friendly plea without casting any blame on anyone.

It was not Ron's fault nor really anyone else's as it's easily done as I stated. There are loads of possible analogies about taking the wrong turning or the wrong tack or you don't sell or buy a kilt in a sweet shop. But pointing folk to where they can potentially buy one is better for both seller and potential buyer.

Now for an actual comment - it would be wonderful if we could sell everything in life for more than what we paid for it but the reality tends to be the opposite apart from certain antiques, vehicles or works of art. I have an extensive DVD collection and was horrified to see ones that I paid £15 for now being sold brand new for £3 and if you take them to one of these second hand places they insult you by offering £1 for 3! The law of diminishing returns certainly sets in so I would rather give ones I no long want away to a charity shop.

Never tried to sell a kilt, have given one or two away which I no longer wanted or needed or had replaced with something better. I only ever outgrew my first kilt which then became a victim to moths and from which I learned important lessons.

No matter how many tartans end up on my Jones list I guess I am a terrible hoarder and would be reluctant to get rid of some of my collection in order to satisfy that Jonesing, even if there are some I don't wear very often. Perhaps I should try a little churning to see how it goes though.
