LOTS of North American animals simply have too big of heads to make elegantly proportioned masks.

Any day I get a compliment on a DIY sporran by Artificer is a damn fine day indeed.
Edit: Incidentally, the person who sold me the stoles I used to make my sporran said they were kit fox but upon looking at images on the internet, I think it's more likely a weasel of some kind, perhaps a stoat or ermine. The ears are just too small to be a fox. Any furriers want to enlighten me?
