I've owned a USAK casual for about three years.. one that sits lower on the waist. I rarely wore it, but decided that I wanted a longer kilt with a tartan that isn't as common. I also decided that it was about time to incorporate the kilt into my life more often, occasional casual and semi formal events and the like.

I ordered a standard SWK, USMC Leatherneck. I have no affiliation with the USMC, but there is family and friend Marine history. I feel I'm honoring their service by owning and wearing it, and I also think it's a great looking kilt!
I feel it will go better with black hose and shirts than other tartans offered by SWK.

I also decided my square toe dress shoes needed to retire (don't insult the pilgrim toe! ). I scored a pair of good condition Allen Edmond Evanstons on the Bay for less than $50.. the rubber sole will be nice in the North Dakota winter, and their great condition means no more dress shoes for a while! I'm not sure if they'll work with casual getups, though. I'll save the Ghillies for when I'm piping with the band.

I like to wear button down, solid color dress shirts with kilts, but have started a wanted thread for a tweed jacket and waistcoat.. I really like that look! I need a nice daywear sporran now, and those Wyverns are looking quite tempting...
