Kilt yardage question

At Kilt Kamp in 2012 we had a lady make a hostess length kilt. This was not a typical hostess skirt but a full kilt just like a man would wear, just hostess length.
The fabric for this kilt measured out at 6.23 yards of almost double-width fabric. Or the equivalent of a man's kilt with 12.46 yards of 16oz wool.
That beast weighed in at over 11 pounds. For a Lady who weighed about 110 pounds soaking wet.
