Bitterroot Celtic Festival & Games 2014

Last weekend was the Bitterroot Celtic Festival & Games in Hamilton, Montana. In years past, this was a sunny weekend, but not this year. The weather was decidedly Scottish, with drizzle, downpour and showers all Saturday. The massed bands were the Pipes and Drums of the Black Rain Cape:

Individual pipers in the solo competition huddled with the judges under awnings. If you notice the judge, there seems to be something next to his station on his left:

A closer look reveals this is the best competition ever!

This fellow re-enacts the 79th Frasers of the French & Indian (Seven Years) War period. This is his impression (with an anachronistic duster, due to the wet):

Here comes the color guard. The fellows on the left and right wore cavalry-style hats. The kilt didn't go real well with the frock coat they were wearing:

The Jacobites I met there last year had a lovey little Murdoch pistol, apparently fully functional:

Then, of course, there was me, in the beer tent, watching Irish dancing and enjoying a local Scottish-style ale. The jacket is a $3 thrift store conversion my wife, the sewing ace, made for me after I laid out the cuts. I was a little damp and rumpled, but enjoying my day at the Games:

Sunday, you just knew it would, dawned bright and sunny and was a beautiful day.
