    Delurking from Toronto

    Hello all,

I've been following both this board and r/kilt for quite some time, and figured it was time to join and introduce myself.

I'm told I have some Scottish ancestry; supposedly Macdonell of Glengary via a Sanderson line, so I was interested to read that discussion here. I'd have to start by tracing back several generations of Lancashire records to verify the stories though. (My wife can easily trace back to the Elliots, so I'm a little jealous that she has so many genealogists in her family).

I presently have one kilt in my closet, a Pakistani utilikilt knockoff, purchased under the thinking that if I wasn't going to wear a $50 kilt, I wouldn't have worn a $300 one either. I have worn it a couple of times in public, so I decided it was time to add. As a result, I do have a 5 yard granite grey tartan from buyakilt.com somewhere on the planet, not having pre-checked the difference between the Royal Mail shipping times when I selected my delivery options.

I blame my wife and daughter for my new obsession - and middle age since I'm too practical for the stereotypical red sportscar. My wife for many years ago alerting me to the existence of utilikilts, and my daughter for suggesting I get a kilt one hot summer morning on the walk to her school.

She's now embarrassed when I do wear it, so I suppose I'm doing something right.

Anyway, that was a lot longer than I ever expected my intro to be.
    I'm not usually so verbose.
