What a small world... looks like your and my Wilsons carry similar traits... no farming but dad was an engineer, later he became an Anglican minister, he was also heavily involved with the trade union movement in Sheffield and Barnsley at various mining collieries. Most of my family still live in the Barnsley area... I don't know how many Wilsons are in the South Yorkshire but maybe there are some ties between us going back to Scotland ?
I'd like to know for definate what part of Scotland my family came from so need to do more digging. In the mean time, regardless of what area/clan my Wilsons originate, I'm more than happy to wear the Wilson tartan. New kilt ordered in Wilson Ancient and due for delivery early in the new year.
