FREE TO GOOD HOME: black Canali 4-button blazer (US 44L, EU 54L) ideal for conversion
As my first post, I wanted to offer something up to the community, free to whoever wants it:
This is from Canali’s ‘Proposta’ line, made in Italy with full-canvas construction (most Proposta is half-canvas, but based on my ‘pinch test’ I think this is full).
What makes this jacket's potential for kilt conversion unusually strong is its relatively high four-button closure, combined with relative length overall and a ventless back. You should be able to have this cut into a fairly high, swept front while still keeping at least a couple of buttons, if not three, and with no vents to sew up or work around, the back can be shaped into whatever sort of a tail you like.
Basically, it seems like a perfect jacket to cut apart and remake. It’s just too darn small for me, and with a move coming up, I'm hoping it can go to someone who will make something of it.
No buttons, but you’ll want to add your own appropriate ones anyway.
The *only* issue is that one of the pocket-flaps has been snagged and re-sewn. This is obviously not an issue if you intend to sew the pockets shut with the flaps inside to create (in effect) jetted pockets.
And because I’ve benefitted a fair bit from lurking this community, I’m offering it up for FREE, as in 'free beer': just cover the shipping (which I will keep to an absolute minimum) and it’s yours.
Thanks to all for making this place such a great resource!
Cheers--
Duncan
