Stumptown Kilt arrived today

Today in the Post came a Sportkilt and a Stumptown kilt, both were great.

I dont see to much about the Stumptown kilts online from people that have them, on what they like and dislike so I thought I would make a post on it for those looking at them.

Pros:

While squatting the front drapes really nice to hide the unmentionables allot like a utilikilt.

Bringing your knee up also drapes nicely over your leg keeping privacy on point.

The snap system is great if your size fluctuates up and down, I can see it being very easy to modify since the pockets can be moved around to keep them centered on the hip or where ever you like them. other adjustable kilts with sewn on pockets I have found to get outta skew with the front apron if you tighten it up to much.

The material is nice and heavy, not like a utilikilt workman but close enough for me. I have the camo Stumptown and the material feels like BDU pants mostly to me and less like carhartt.

Pleats are stitched in a box pattern so they work against one another and seem to stay straighter.

Rivets everywhere reinforcing seems. Built like a tank.

Pocket system is very versatile and I could see someone with a sewing machine being able to quickly make some custom pockets to hang on the straps and or military stuff should work on there too.

Logo embroidered on the inside so you don't have a tramp stamp on your butt like some other ones lol

Easier when buying. If you get close it will fit, if your a size off up or down it will still fit as mentioned before about the snap closure. I wanted to add that because I have found from a reputable kilt company I got two kilts the same size and one fit while the other was tight. so you are always trying to figure if they go by pants size or actual waist size. One company I know of did it by pants size in the beginning then changed to showing pants size and kilt size, now they do something a bit different but if you wanted to buy a used kilt you would need to know at what point they changed the system and it can be very frustrating.

Front apron pocket... That one slipped my mind, thanks KMCMICHAEL

Cons:

No rear pockets (on this one) it may be an option though but I couldn't find any information on that.

No front pocket option. I do like the Utilikilt Mocker and Sportkilt front pockets but its not a deal breaker for me.

No snaps except for on the waist band. This is good and bad. Good because adjusting to weight is easy but having a snap on the apron helps with the whole privacy thing. With that said though the apron in its V shape still feels like it stays in place and drapes nicely.

Would I buy another one, yep!

For me its a great kilt, I will probably wear it as much as the Utilikilts and Sportkilts as it is just as comfortable and feels like it is built tough.

The main thing I look for is the way it drapes while doing tasks like sitting, squatting or climbing, then I look at the material and weight, construction etc. most of the Pakastan kilts I have while they look pretty good tend to fall apart, snaps disappear, seems start fraying after a few washes. Not all of them though, some of them are built really nice, but none of them drape well in the front.
