Just joined and saying hi.
Introductions, to me, are one of the hardest things to write. I can't ever figure out what to write or how to put stuff. Bear with me and we'll get through this.
I am Irish, Scottish and English in ancestry. My wife is mostly Scottish. We both enjoy watching videos about Scotland, listening to the lovely skirl of the bagpipes and thinking about planning a visit there someday. With this in mind, we planned on going to the Highland Games in Boise last September. Of course, I wanted to wear a kilt. I did some reading, looking around, and pricing. I ended up ordering my first kilt from USA Kilts. Since I don't know very much about my Scottish ancestry..................only that someone in the past was from there; I didn't want to choose a tartan that wasn't right. I looked through the Irish tartans. I found my family under County Leitrim. I decided to go with that tartan.
While I was waiting for the delivery of that kilt, we went to the Arts in the Park. We saw a guy wearing one of the 5.11 Tactical Kilts. I thought it looked comfortable for everyday wear, so I ordered one of those. It's as easy as wearing a pair of cargo shorts........same kind of material.
When my tartan kilt arrived, I was thrilled to have it! We had a great time at the games...............great music, awesome food, great local stout beers, vendors, etc. We saw one of our co-workers there and I met his piping teacher (I took learning the bagpipes up as well). The extra fabric from the kilt came with it, so my wife made herself a scarf and rosette out of that to match me.
Since then, I have ordered one other new kilt from Sport Kilt. With our current awful weather (oddly Scottish right now), I haven't done more than just wear it around the house. I'm looking forward to wearing them to events in Boise this summer.
