    And to further muddy the waters, somewhere in the distant past it was revealed to me (by an unremembered source) that a woman wearing a sash of her birth family tartan does so over the right shoulder. If she is wearing the tartan of an adopted clan or family (such as the one she married into), she wears it over the left shoulder.
    Any substance to this, or just another myth contrived to confuse?
