When people first started to use the term "Jonesing" about waiting for a kilt some other members asked what it meant.
So to expand on where the word came from -
The New Oxford American Dictionary has the origins from the 1960's and coming from Jones Alley in Manhattan where there was a large drug culture mostly Marijuana.
According to Cecil Adams of "The Straight Dope" newspaper article fame, the term dates from the 1920' or 30's from Greater Jones Street in New York City where many heroin addicts went to get a fix.
