MacKintosh or MacPherson
A specimen of Wilsons’ ‘MacKintosh – Old Method’ tartan. This and their ‘MacKintosh – New Method’ were included in their 1819 Key Pattern Book. The difference is that the yellow stripe in the former comprised 4 threads wool and 6 threads silk, whereas the New Method included 6 threads of silk or wool only.
This is the tartan claimed to have come from the Crubin Plaid associated with the MacPhersons. Specimens of that in museums exactly match this Wilsons' specimen and it is likely that the so called Crubin Plaid is not as old as claimed.
