My college colors were purple and gold, and a couple of recent events got me thinking that it might be fun to have a kilt in those colors. An online search turned up several purple tartans that were fairly dark, a couple that were hideous, and then this:

Gretna Gold, a Locharron fashion tartan that's apparently available in 10 and 13oz. weights. I rather like it.

Questions for the rabble:

Has anyone seen this tartan as a kilt?

If the sett allows, what would you think of pleating to the stripe to show the lighter purple and vertical gold/white? Or would you pleat to the sett? I think pleating to the darker stripe might be too dark.

And are there any other purple/yellow candidates I might have missed?

Thanks!
